Our Work

We've spent years bringing darkness to light - literally. Each project here tells a story of transformation, whether we're resurrecting forgotten industrial giants or crafting new structures that pay homage to Gothic tradition. This isn't your typical glass-box architecture.

St. Augustine Revival Project
Gothic Revival

St. Augustine Revival

Brought this 1890s church back from the brink. The limestone had been crumbling for decades, but we managed to preserve 80% of the original stonework while reinforcing the flying buttresses. Took three years but worth every minute.

Foundry District Conversion
Industrial Restoration

Foundry District Mixed-Use

This old steel foundry sat empty for 20 years - everyone said tear it down. We saw potential. Kept the massive timber beams, exposed brick, and even the original crane system. Now it's 45 loft units and ground-floor commercial space that actually respects what came before.

Obsidian Tower
Contemporary Dark

Obsidian Tower

Our client wanted something bold - got inspired by Gothic verticality but demanded modern materials. We used charcoal-black concrete panels with deep shadow gaps that change throughout the day. The result? A 22-story office building that looks like it grew from the earth itself.

Blackwood Estate
Gothic Revival

Blackwood Estate

Private residence for a client who appreciates the darker aesthetic. We incorporated pointed arches, custom ironwork, and even got a stonemason to hand-carve gargoyles. It's not medieval - it's thoroughly modern inside - but it captures that dramatic Gothic spirit without feeling like a theme park.

Riverside Mill Adaptive Reuse
Heritage Preservation

Riverside Mill Studios

Textile mill from 1905 that the city almost demolished. We convinced them otherwise and turned it into artist studios and gallery space. Left the water wheel functional, restored the original windows, and the brick... man, they don't make 'em like that anymore.

Nocturne Library
Contemporary Dark

Nocturne Public Library

Who says libraries need to be bright and cheerful? We designed this one around the concept of intimate reading spaces - lots of dark wood, strategic lighting, and vaulted ceilings that echo cathedral architecture. Circulation's up 40% since it opened, so apparently people dig it.

Victoria College Restoration
Heritage Preservation

Victoria College Wing

Worked with university historians to restore the 1892 Gothic wing. Every detail mattered here - from matching the original mortar composition to recreating lost architectural elements from old photographs. Nerve-wracking but rewarding work.

Iron & Ember Brewery
Industrial Restoration

Iron & Ember Brewery Complex

Former locomotive repair shop that we converted into a brewery, restaurant, and event space. Kept the overhead crane rails, exposed all the steel trusses, and left the patina on everything. Client wanted "industrial chic" - we gave them the real deal, no fake distressing needed.

Shadow Ridge Residence
Contemporary Dark

Shadow Ridge Residence

Hillside home that embraces the dramatic. We cantilevered the main living space over a ravine using blackened steel and glass. The neighbors thought we were crazy during construction, but the final result speaks for itself - it literally disappears into the landscape at dusk.

Memorial Chapel
Gothic Revival

Evergreen Memorial Chapel

Small chapel that packs a punch. Ribbed vaulting, lancet windows with custom stained glass, and acoustics designed for contemplation. Built with local stone and traditional joinery techniques - sometimes you gotta slow down and do it right.

Forge Quarter Master Plan
Urban Planning

Forge Quarter Redevelopment

Multi-year master plan for a 12-block industrial district. Instead of wiping the slate clean, we're working building-by-building to preserve the character while adding density. It's slower, messier, and way more interesting than typical urban renewal. Five buildings down, seven to go.

Want to See More?

We've got plenty more projects in the archives, and several under construction right now. If you're interested in working together or just want to talk architecture, we're always up for a conversation.
